Why EPC Should Be Your Main Focus?

September 9, 2008No Comments

As a former affiliate manager, I can tell you that EPC aware affiliates are often nighmarish for merchants. Having worked in the financial industry, I have come to know many super affiliates who make decent money by managing their own comparison sites on financial products. But if you have checked any of their sites, you probably have noticed that they keep moving offers up and down the rankings for no apparent reason. After all, a financial product can’t up and down every week when we all know how slow the financial industry is in making changes to its offererings. The truth is that many super affiliates develop scripts that change offer positions based on the 7-day EPC for their markets. This is a brilliant way of tying in your landing page with your conversions. If a product is bringing you more at position No. 5, there is a good chance that it can do the same at position No. 1.

I personally don’t love this idea but it is brilliant as it allows you to maximize your profits with an autopilot system. All you do is enter your conversion information and offers, and the script will move offers that are more profitable to the top of the page. The moral of this story really is that you should keep a close track of the offers that you are promotion and how you can improve your EPC overtime. If an offer is not bringing you enough profits, talk to your affiliate manager about ways to improve conversion. But almost every product has an EPC ceiling that you will hit regardless of what you do to promote it. The key is to diversify and figure out if you are fine with that max EPC.
